URBAN FARM

Our urban farm and orchard is located at the corner of Compton and Rutger across from the Saint Louis University track on south campus. Operating the farm is an integral component of the cafe and the Nutrition and Dietetics curriculum. It provides opportunities for our employees and community to learn about farm to table operations, urban farming practices, and composting. Our farm yields seasonal salad and dark leafy greens, radishes, turnips, strawberries, a variety of potatoes and peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and melons just to name a few. Our orchard is home to apples, peaches, pears, plumbs, apricots, grapes, raspberries, blackberries, cherries, elderflower, and hazelnuts. We also grow a variety of culinary and medicinal herbs in our greenhouse to harvest year round. The items produced at the farm are used at Fresh Gatherings, in culinary classes, and distributed to Campus Kitchen and other local charities.
